A Nashville Couple’s Closet Vision Becomes Dressing Room Reality

WHAT THEY WANTED
Nashville residents Victoria Japhet and her husband Kevin knew their primary closet wasn’t working for them. It badly needed better organization, but they didn’t want an out-of-the-box solution. Victoria wanted the new walk in space to feel like she was “shopping” her own closet every day.
That’s when they turned to California Closets of Nashville and designer Clayton Lancaster. The couple collaborated closely with Clayton to craft a custom design that would keep everything organized and on display — like a boutique!
I wanted a closet that would replicate the excitement of walking into my favorite store.
HOW CALIFORNIA CLOSETS DID IT
Clayton invoived the couple at every step of the process, making sure he understood their style, budget, and even their daily routines to ensure the space would meet their needs and support their lifestyle.
Using California Closets’ state-of-the-art design tools, which allowed Victoria and Kevin to watch the design evolve in 3D, Clayton focused on airy open-hanging racks to mimic a high-end boutique. Opaque-doored cabinets store special occasion wear while Victoria’s beloved handbags can be displayed in glass-front cases. The couple’s shoe collection also got a full-wall solution.
To add more of that “shopping experience” Clayton used discreet strip lighting throughout the space, augmented by strategic spotlights and recessed ceiling fixtures.
Between our consultant’s energy and the interactivity of the design tools, we had a truly exciting experience from beginning to end!

Sleek and defined with neutral wood surfaces set off by matte black metal hardware, the highly personalized closet design gives the couple the look and function they were craving.
Thanks to Clayton’s deep experience and creativity, the finished space is something special and, in the couple’s own words, “exceeds expectations."
