What She Wanted
When Camille Styles built her house more than 10 years ago as a 25-year-old newlywed, she paid little attention to the pantry’s initial design, which was adequate but not optimal. But now, as a working mother of two small children with a thriving business and a passion for cooking and entertaining, she knew the time had come to do something about the pantry’s cluttered shelves, mismatched storage containers and overall lack of order.
I needed an organization system that would ensure my pantry stayed clean and tidy, even when life got busy.
How we did it
Happy with the outcome of her California Closets-designed butler’s pantry created for her office studio, Camille tapped California Closets Austin again, collaborating with design consultant Mariana Rivera to reimagine her personal pantry at home.
The two measured the space, inventoried every item — counting the exact number of cans, boxes, cereal containers, bottles of vinegar, and more. Mariana then designed a storage solution that gave everything a home, complete with pull-out drawers to maximize space and an acrylic organizer for storing Camille’s colorful collection of linen napkins.
And, because a clean and modern aesthetic was also important to Camille, she and Mariana selected a woodgrain finish and oil rubbed bronze hardware to mirror her Mediterranean-inspired home.
final result
I have just as much stuff — but because [the pantry is] designed so efficiently, the space feels twice as big. I actually even have a couple of empty drawers, which would never have happened in my old pantry.
With her new and improved pantry design, Camille has more storage than she imagined and finds more joy knowing that she’s realized the potential of this hard-working space.
