What She Wanted
With an impressive passion for fashion, Eat/Sleep/Wear's Kimberly Lapides regularly adorns her blog with signature finds. Throughout her work and travels, she has acquired beautiful collections of shoes, handbags, clothing and accessories that were all being stored on uninspired metal poles. Kimberly was ready for a change. She dreamed of reimagining one of her extra bedrooms into a fresh, boutique-like closet where she could finally display—and truly appreciate—her belongings. The one caveat was that her dream closet also needed to accommodate space for her husband, too, so Kimberly enlisted the help of California Closets Orange County design consultant Heather Daurio to create a functional and fashionable space the couple could both enjoy.
How we did it
Heather thoroughly assessed the soon-to-be-closet space, reviewing Kimberly’s inventory and learning about her day-to-day lifestyle, routines and travel schedule. After Heather completed careful measurements, she met with Kimberly at the showroom and they collaborated on a clean, custom design. Together, they fine-tuned details such as lighting and clever storage for Kimberly’s beloved accessories and shoes, as well as dedicated spaces for long and short dresses, sequins, and evening attire to keep her clothing organized and accessible. Heather also created a plan for how she would use the bedroom’s existing small closet area as dedicated space for Kimberly’s husband.
It was helpful to go into the showroom to see how some of the pieces functioned, and to see the finishes firsthand. I loved being able to touch and feel the materials to envision how the space would be finished.
