A Total Room Makeover that Serves the Whole Family

WHAT JENNY TAYLOR WANTED
For the Taylors, activity and versatility are a way of life. They enjoy a busy lifestyle surrounded by friends and family and want their home to support this. But living in an older house with inadequate storage was becoming frustrating and stressful.
Realizing she wasn’t able to use her spaces effectively, Jenny sought out custom storage that could support her family’s needs and bring efficiency to their lives—starting with a bonus room. Referred to as the “junk drawer” room, it had become a catch—all for clutter. The space craved flexible storage and a new purpose in the home.
I needed a space that worked with my family’s lifestyle, not against it.
HOW CALIFORNIA CLOSETS DID IT
Jenny reached out to Ariel Chenworth of California Closets Raleigh for her insight and design expertise. From the beginning, Ariel took time to listen to Jenny’s needs and vision for how the family would ultimately use the space—part overflow closet, part guest room, part home gym.
Ariel’s thoughtful final design features a floor—to—ceiling wall bed and wardrobe unit that effectively doubles the room’s storage while still allowing for overnight guests. On the opposite wall, built—in shelving keeps workout essentials on display and within reach.
It is a joy to be able to see the lasting positive impacts our designs can have on clients like Jenny and her family.
