What She Wanted
Beyond her distinguished client roster, celebrated Manhattan-based publicist Susan Magrino Dunning is recognized for signature style. Her attention to every detail is no secret to her career success, and the execution of her recent Palm Beach home renovation is no exception. When it was time to update her walk-in closet, Susan turned to California Closets to achieve the optimized storage, efficiency, and refined appeal she envisioned.
Susan has an impeccable eye and it was a pleasure to provide her with an elevated design she can enjoy when she is in Palm Beach.
How we did it
Even while Susan worked in New York during the renovations, she collaborated regularly with California Closets design consultant Kara Roelandts over email to perfect the design. Kara took care to assess all of Susan’s objectives for the space, which was very narrow with an unusual shape. First, to enhance the space, Kara utilized mirrors and LED lighting to make the closet feel larger and brighter, while also incorporating a combination of finishes to give the room a more contemporary feel. To create a fabulously-organized closet where Susan could properly store and appreciate her wardrobe, Kara added ample room for hanging items and streamlined storage areas for folded clothing and handbags. Kara also addressed Susan’s wish for valet rods throughout, as well as an area where she could easily charge her phone, computer, and other accessories while getting ready. To complete the room, Susan added a neutral rug, mirrors behind the door and above the drawers, and a marble countertop.

Having previously worked with California Closets for my Connecticut home, I was eager to work with the company again and I couldn’t be happier!
A smart layout now gives Susan more space and utility, while all the custom details make the closet entirely her own.
