What She Wanted
Jaclyn Johnson is a serial entrepreneur, investor, and the powerhouse behind Create & Cultivate, an online community and conference series for career-minded Millennial women. She and her husband Dave had just purchased their dream house: a 1940s Spanish home in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, just 10 minutes away from Create & Cultivate’s headquarters. However, Jaclyn found herself working from home often and needed an inviting office that motivated her entrepreneurial pursuits and matched her distinct aesthetic.
Jaclyn needed a warm and inviting office that would give her the space— physical and creative—to run and grow her business from home.
How we did it
Jaclyn worked with California Closets Los Angeles design consultant Cara Carrasco to create the workspace she envisioned. She wanted a built-in look and, initially, desk-to-ceiling bookshelves. However, Jaclyn and Cara eventually decided on a more minimalistic design—a large simple desk with drawers and cabinets underneath, complete with a slide-out printer shelf—that would work better with the room’s two large windows.
Combining a natural finish and black hardware, the system perfectly complements Jaclyn’s Napa, Palm Springs, and Tulum-inspired color scheme of black, pink, beige, and white.

It’s awesome!
The beautifully designed, zen-like space makes it easier for Jaclyn to run her company and be creative at home. Her added touches—artwork, lighting, textiles, and plants—bring warmth to the space, which is a favorite of Jaclyn’s two pups too: They often curl up on the pink chair for an afternoon nap while she works.
