California Closets Tennessee Teams up with Dress for Success

Part of the process of upgrading to a new closet is paring down your belongings and getting rid of what you don’t need any more. In support of this effort, California Closets Tennessee is proud to partner with Dress for Success^® to facilitate the donation of professional clothing and accessories to women in need.

“Much of the time, we will go in and do a closet makeover, or even a garage or office design, and it inspires the homeowner to start organizing. We decided to give customers a discount for donating shoes to Dress for Success here in Nashville, ” said Kurt Schusterman, owner of California Closets Tennessee.

In December 2015, we encouraged our clients to become “shoe gooders” and to donate gently used women’s professional shoes in exchange for a discount on any installation. In just a few weeks,  we had collected over 100 pair of shoes for the local Dress for Success location.

“What does this means to us? Think about 100 women going into a job interview and feeling confident. The start of something new in her life, ” says Newtonia Coleman, Program Coordinator for Dress for Success in Nashville, a YWCA affiliated organization that helps women by providing professional attire and support so they can thrive in their work life.”

“I’m a local business owner. I live in Middle Tennessee and I’m raising my family here. I love the idea that the next woman who comes in to California Closets to interview could be wearing a pair of shoes that California Closets customers helped provide, ” says Schusterman
